The Benefits of the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval

At Twin Cities Siding and Roofing, we are proud to be the authorized James Hardie® contractor in the Twin Cities area. Since 2013, James Hardie’s line of HardiePlank lap siding bears the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, and we’d like to share how this Seal will benefit you.

The Benefits Of The Good Housekeeping Seal Of Approval

What is the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval?

Good Housekeeping is backed by the century-old Good Housekeeping Institute, and benefits from the latter’s experience in home improvements that make homeowners’s lives easier and more manageable. When applying for the Seal of Approval, manufacturers first submit the product to the Good Housekeeping Institute for evaluation. Several aspects of the product are then tested, including effectiveness, the accuracy of its packaging, and marketing claims.

The manufacturer must submit proof and documentation to support the aforementioned claims. If the product scores at least 65 out of a 100-point scale, then it earns a classic seal. The manufacturer can then choose to apply for the Green Good Housekeeping seal. The product will then be subjected to further review based on environmentally-related criteria, such as material, sustainability, and waste reduction during the manufacturing process. We are proud to say that HardiePlank lap siding has passed all criteria and has earned the Good Housekeeping Seal in 2013.

The Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty

The Good Housekeeping Seal is more than just a seal of approval and guarantee of quality. It also means that your HardiePlank siding is covered by the Good Housekeeping’s Limited Warranty, independent of the James Hardie’s or our own warranties. If the product proves to be defective within two years from the date of purchase, you will receive a refund of the purchase price up to $2,000.00, or, at Good Housekeeping’s sole discretion, will pay for the repair or replacement of the product.

Not many products offer so many reasons for your peace of mind. When you choose HardiePlank siding for your home, you are, in essence, choosing great fiber siding to begin with. It comes with a 30-year non-prorated warranty and a 15-year finish warranty that covers both materials and labor and the Good Housekeeping Limited Warranty for the critical first two years.
