What Cleaning Products to Use
Deck manufacturers state products that can and can’t be used for cleaning in the care instructions. The TimberTech DeckCleaner is made, field-tested and approved for cleaning TimberTech AZEK® Deck, TimberTech PRO Deck, TimberTech EDGE Deck and TimberTech Composite Rail. It is ideal for seasonal cleaning, everyday spills and hard-to-remove dust or dirt. You can clean around 1,000 square feet of surface area with one gallon diluted with one part cleaner to three water parts water.
Cleaning Tips
Prepare water for rinsing the deck, you can either use a hose or power washer. However, keep in mind that a power washer can only be used for rinsing, and the recommended maximum pressure is 1,500 pounds per square inch (psi). You should only use a fan tip nozzle and spray in the direction of the grain pattern to prevent damage. Always be careful when using a pressure washer and take necessary safety measures to avoid damaging the material.
As much as possible, schedule your deck cleaning when it’s not too sunny to prevent the cleaner to dry too quickly. When that happens, a white film will form on the surface, which would need to be cleaned again. Clean your deck in small, manageable areas, and rinse the spot thoroughly before moving onto the next part. Avoid getting the cleaner on glass, stainless steel and painted surfaces. If the cleaner accidentally comes into contact with the mentioned surfaces, rinse immediately with water.
